1. Who we are
The Archive (thearchiveby.com) lets curators publish a page of objects with their stories and links. This policy explains what we collect, including Google user data, and how we use it. Contact: thecurator@thearchiveby.com.
2. Google user data we access
When you sign in with Google, we receive only your basic profile: email address, name, Google account ID and profile picture. We do not access any other Google data, such as Gmail, Drive or contacts.
3. How we use it
Only to create and secure your account, sign you in and contact you about your account. We do not show your email publicly, sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.
4. How we store, protect and share it
Your data is held by service providers that host our website, database and sign-in on our behalf, only to run The Archive. It is encrypted in transit and at rest. Other users cannot see your account details, and we access them only to operate and support the service, at your request, for security, or where the law requires. We do not share Google user data with anyone else.
5. Retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete your account in the studio at any time: your archive leaves public view immediately and your data is permanently deleted after a 30-day grace period. Copies of images held briefly by browsers and our content delivery network expire within a day or two of an image's removal. You can also email us to access or delete your data, and revoke our access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
6. Limited Use
The Archive's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
7. Other information
Your archive (photos, titles, stories, links, layout, note and username) is public once published, and you can make it private. For visitors we keep only anonymous view and click counts. Our providers keep short-lived technical logs, including IP addresses, for security, and we may briefly keep a hashed IP address to prevent abuse. Features such as background removal, music search and link safety checks use third-party services that receive only what the feature needs, never your Google user data. We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in.
8. Changes
We post changes on this page with a new date, and will ask for your consent before using Google user data in any new way.
